I’m not sure how but it’s Thursday already! Where on earth has this week gone? Time sure is flying which is no bad thing as it’s Christmas next week, yay! I’m so excited are you? Today I have something a bit different for you, a thoroughly modern city wedding set in the heart of Manchester. It has been sent into me by Emma Boileau and it features the most stunning bride with flaming red hair and a whole host of other red wedding details. From the bridesmaids to the table names, the favours to the cake, this wedding is chic, modern and full of love.
‘Unmistakably us’

Aimee and Matthew were married on 14th August 2015 at Manchester Town Hall and The Place. ‘We are both Manchester born and bred and love the City. I looked into country weddings but who was I kidding! I’m a city girl at heart. We had 130 day guests and 200 plus for the evening. We wanted a party atmosphere and we got it! Although we had been engaged for 18th months in total. We wanted to enjoy the engagement before the wedding whirlwind took over. We planned the wedding in 9 months.’
How they met
We’ve been together 9 years and met at work, MUTV. I was a young fledging straight out of University while he was a charming lad with a cheeky smile!
The Proposal
We had travelled to Thailand for my 30th Birthday. Before our adventure many people said to me he’s going to pop the question! I didn’t believe it but it stayed in the back of my mind. On the day of my Birthday I quietly hoped for the proposal but it didn’t arrive so I put it to the back of my mind. Two Days later in a beautiful restaurant in Chang Mai, Matthew waited until the place was empty and got down on one knee! The Waiter spotted what was happening, grabbed my camera and took a picture of the moment. I was presented with a fantastic Hello Kitty ring which I wore until we choose my ring together.

How did you allocate your budget
We had a list of what we wanted and what was important to us and worked around that.
Where did you splurge and where did you save
We both knew that entertainment was important to us. I had sleepless nights of an empty dancefloor, so both DJ and band was a top priority. We also allocated money to our photographer. I made my own wedding cake (a real labour of love) and as I’m not much of a flower person so we managed to save there. I also have a VERY talented best friend who made all of my stationary.

How did you choose your photographer
Capturing the day was very important to us; I love photography and have spent many an hour looking at wedding blogs even before I was engaged. With a simple Google search I found the most perfect candidate Emma Boileau. She was local to us and after talking to her we knew she was perfect. She really captures the day beautifully. A super talented lady!
The Dress
My dress was by Mori Lee, I had gone to various bridal shops but this was the first dress I tried on. I kept my accessories simple with stud earrings and a beautiful Tiffany bracelet Matthew bought me on the day and bright red shoes from Kurt Geiger.
The Suit and Bridesmaids
Matthew’s Suit was from Hugo Boss, Bridesmaids dresses where from (gasp) EBAY a massive risk but so worth it. With a bit of seamstress magic they fitted each bridesmaid perfectly.

Theme or Colour Scheme
My favourite colour is red so red, red and more red with a little white.
Flowers
A family friend who is an incredibly talented florist created my flowers. I wanted red flowers but not too tidy, the tables were covered in white hydrangeas, flowers that remind me of my childhood
Decoration
Decoration was quite simple, we let lights create the atmosphere and lots of jam jars were on the tables and hand crafted items dotted about the place

Food
We had canapés for the reception, a fantastic three course meal and the evening food was provided by Matthew’s sausage company. Grandad’s Sausages, we had gourmet hotdogs and everyone raved about them.
Wedding Cake
Was made by my very own hands with a little help from two of my Bridesmaids.
Entertainment
We had B Street Band, a Dj and photobooth

The Stationery
My best friend and Bridesmaid Vicky is a very talented graphic designer and created all of my stationary
Personal or Handmade Touches
There was lots of personal touches to our day. I didn’t want a standard cookie cutter wedding. From the cake, decorations and song list were all done by ourselves.

Special Moments
Everything, it couldn’t have gone any better. People really say it’s the best day of your lives and I couldn’t agree more
Advice to other couples
Try to relax! Think about yourselves and figure out what you want from your day. Also, the little things that felt so important really pale into insignificance on the day.
Biggest surprise
How emotional the ceremony was, it really was a whirlwind. One minute crying the next minute laughing. We wouldn’t change it for the world
